Itronix GoBook Wins 'Best New Technology Award' at FOSE 2001

World's Fastest Rugged, Wireless Notebook PC Wins Top Technology Prize Based on Innovation, Usability, Specifications, and Value; Award Honors Best New Products for the Federal Government in Civilian and Military applications.

WASHINGTON DC CONVENTION CENTER, BOOTH 3233--(March 21, 2001)--Itronix Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedized, wireless mobile computing solutions, was honored Tuesday at FOSE 2001's (Federal Office Systems Expo) "Best New Technology Awards" in Washington, DC. In the Government Computer News Best New Technology Awards competition, the Itronix GoBook(TM) was selected for the top honor in the Wireless Devices category and recognized for its exceptional innovation, usability, specifications, and value, placing it in the top echelon of products at the show.

"Itronix is honored to receive this award at such a highly regarded and influential venue as FOSE 2001," said Jeff Gibbons, Vice President of Marketing for Itronix. "The 'Best New Technology' award reinforces our strongly-held belief that the GoBook is the premier rugged, wireless notebook computer for government and commercial applications.

"The GoBook is the fastest, fully rugged notebook computer in its class for demanding field computing applications. It is designed and tested to rigorous MIL-STD 810E environmental specs which ensure the product will function in extreme heat and cold, as well as survive repeated drops, shock, heavy vibration, and dust. Its weather-sealed design provides maximum usability both outdoors and in vehicles where protection from heavy rain and/or liquid spills in extremely important. The GoBook will survive 4" of water per hour, spraying on any of the unit's 6 axes, and is tested to function after 26 repeated drops from 3 feet.

The GoBook offers a fully rugged magnesium outer casing, the latest PC architecture, including an Intel 600Mhz processor, 256 MB SDRAM, shock-mounted 6/10/20GB hard drives, and sunlight viewable 12.1" SVGA color touchscreen display. The notebook also features an Itronix exclusive--the company's new CRMA(TM) (Common Radio Module Architecture, or "Karma") field-upgradable radio modem architecture, which allows users to swap or upgrade wireless modem units in the field, thus eliminating the need for costly depot returns.

Since its release in October, 2000, the Itronix GoBook has been a major success for Itronix. Its rugged, yet lightweight (7.5 lb.) design and wide number of wireless radio options--Cingular, Motient, CDPD, GSM, or Wireless LAN--make the GoBook ideal for government, commercial, and industrial field computing applications such as military, law enforcement, telecommunications, utilities, and commercial field services. At an MSRP of $4,495, the Itronix GoBook is a very cost-effective mobile computing solution for applications where users require a fully-featured notebook PC, as well as the added value of a fully rugged design, high performance wireless communications, vehicle docking and networking options.

GoBook was named "Best Wireless Device" at the Government Computer News Best New Technology Awards ceremony held at the Washington DC Hyatt Hotel on Tuesday night. The awards, sponsored by Government Computer News (GCN), a PostNewsweek Tech Media Group publication, honor products in eleven technology categories of special interest to the $100+ billion government and public education markets. Each category received an average of 50 entries, from which three finalists are chosen, and is judged in a double-blind process.

For the first time this year, all finalists were featured on a special FOSElive webcast (www.foselive.com), hosted by the GCN lab team. The FOSElive webcast was viewed in over 250,000 hotel rooms nationwide.
