9/17/2002 Itronix Announces iCare™ Mobility: Delivering Secure, Reliable, IP Connectivity Over Wireless Networks Spokane, Wash. (September 17, 2002) - Itronix, the world’s leading supplier of wireless, rugged computing solutions for mobile workforces today announced the release of a new wireless software solution called iCare Mobility™. This IP (internet protocol) networking software enables wireless computing systems to operate securely and reliably on a variety of wireless networks while roaming in and out of coverage. iCare Mobility’s unique features eliminate the frustration and time lost due to re-booting, logging on, verifying user profiles, re-launching applications, and recovering data when wireless connections are dropped due to changing networks, coverage gaps, lost connections, interference, or a suspended mobile computer. As a result, iCare Mobility users spend more time in the field working and less time tinkering. “Communications options are evolving rapidly for mobile workforces,” said Tom Turner, Itronix Chief Executive Officer. “Many organizations want to leverage wide-area wireless data technologies like CDPD, GSM/GPRS or CDMA/1xRTT to make personnel more productive in the field. These same organizations often want to leverage a variety of wired or other connectivity options such as network hot spots in offices, depots and public locations to complement the wide-area coverage with greater bandwidth and reduced cost.” Today’s applications were designed for traditional fixed IP networks and cannot cope in mixed wireless network environments. iCare Mobility solves network roaming problems by enabling persistent, secure IP connections between mobile applications and their servers on corporate networks, intranets or the Internet. Mobile workers can seamlessly roam between offices, buildings or wide-area wireless networks with confidence that their applications will remain stable and secure. “iCare Mobility offers significant economic benefits to our customers,” Turner said. “It enables organizations to further leverage their investment in enterprise applications by using wide-area wireless data networks to improve workforce productivity through expanded and more efficient access to those systems in the field.” iCare Mobility will be officially launched at the Frontline Solutions tradeshow in Chicago, September 24-26.
