SPOKANE, WA-Itronix Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedized, wireless mobile computing solutions, today announced a major performance upgrade to its extremely popular X-C 6250 Pro ruggedized mobile workstation. The new X-C 6250 Pro is now available with a 300MHz GXm processor, improved memory and storage capacity, and new DVD support, providing even greater utility and high performance to anyone requiring a durable, and reliable wireless field computing solution.

"Not only is the new X-C 6250 Pro capable of driving advanced software applications, but its DVD capability will help those who must routinely access large databases while in the field," said Wally Starr, X-C 6250 Pro Product Manager at Itronix. "With the X-C 6250 Pro's new DVD drive support, accessible via the units PC card port, users can quickly search DVD-based corporate parts lists, customer sales records, or other large databases. It will support menu driven indexes, along with Zoom Video and traditional CD-ROM-based applications."
The new X-C 6250 Pro features a faster, more powerful, industrial grade 300MHz GXm processor, as well as 64 MB RAM that is upgradable to 256 MB. The units hard drive has been increased to 6 GB, with an optional 12 GB storage capacity available. Standard operating systems include Microsoft Windows 95 and 98.

The X-C 6250 Pro, which has won the prestigious PC Week "Best of Comdex" Award and Customer Support Management's AFSMI "Best of Show" Award, also features a new Colorvue SVGA display that is easily viewable in direct sunlight. The unit is designed to function in the harshest of conditions and use, and features a magnesium alloy casing and fully ruggedized internal components to protect the unit from exposure to rain, dust, shock, vibration, and extreme temperature fluctuations ranging from -4o to 140oF. The workstation also has a Nitevue keyboard that enhances the viewing capacity of the keyboard in dark environments.

Other operating features include integrated wireless data communications for the enterprise via CDPD/Cellular, Motient (ARDIS), or Bell South Wireless Data radio networks; a conference quality speakerphone; 33% improved battery life; and a variety of carrying options and secure vehicle docks with multiple ports.
