10/29/2001 Lauda Air Selects Itronix Rugged Computers Itronix Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedized, wireless mobile computing solutions, has announced an exclusive deal with Lauda Air to supply X-C6250Pro and Gobook notebook computers. The ruggedized mobile PCs will be integral part of Lauda Air’s aircraft maintenance program. The Lauda Air organization concentrates on quality, service and defining itself as different from other companies in the same industry. At the same time Lauda Air has one of the newest fleets of aircraft in the world, maintained to the highest standards, and always with state of the art technology. "We concentrate on quality and service. Only those who pay attention to the most minute details can deliver perfection". This statement, made by the company’s founder, Niki Lauda, applies equally to the aircraft. A maxim, which, particularly in the Technical Department, has literal validity: "To guarantee safety is our absolute priority – for our passengers as well as for our aircraft". Denis Gallon, Notebook Product Manager for Itronix Europe, comments, "This is a very impressive deal for Itronix. Lauda Air is world-renowned as an airline, which is second to none when it comes to comfort and safety. For the X-C 6250Pro and GoBook to be used in the maintenance of its aircraft is the highest accolade, and we feel that this justifies Itronix’s name as the ruggedized mobile wireless PC of choice for the professional." The Lauda Air fleet currently consists of 22 aircraft: 2 Boeing 777-200 IGW, 7 Boeing 767-300 ER, 2 Boeing 737-300, 2 Boeing 737-400, 2 Boeing 737-600, 1 Boeing 737-700, 2 Boeing 737-800 and 4 Canadair Regional Jets 100 ER. Being a very forward-looking enterprise, Lauda Air uses Itronix’s robust Notebooks with integrated data broadcasting, the X-C 6250Pro and the GoBook, in the maintenance of their machines. The Itronix units can be used within the aircraft, whether in the hangar, on the airfield or in foreign airports. Lauda Air technical centers situated in Bangkok and Glasgow are already working on aircraft with the aid of "electronic manuals". When maintenance has to be undertaken in airports which are not equipped with their own Lauda Air technical center the integrated GSM Module, incorporated in the X-C6250Pro and GoBook, comes into its own which was a decisive factor in the choice of Itronix Notebooks. By this means the technician can be contacted by telephone, by voice mail, fax or, without the need for fixed access to the Internet, via a global provider. "Lauda air was looking for state of the art tools when considering the right notebooks. The Itronix X-C6250Pro and GoBook exceeded criteria and were the only machines which Lauda Air considered up to the job of helping to maintain their aircraft," concludes Gallon. |
