Itronix ‘Best Of Show’ Award For GoBook‘ Makes Two In A Row At Field Enterprise Solutions Conference & Exhibition

Leading Maker of Ruggedized Computers Takes Top Honor for Second Consecutive Year; GoBook Rugged Wireless Notebook PC Cited as ‘Best Notebook/Subnotebook’

LAKESIDE CENTER AT McCORMICK PLACE, BOOTH #410 —(August 2, 2001)—Itronix Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedized, wireless mobile computing solutions, today received the "Best of Show" award in the "Best Notebook/Subnotebook" category at Field Enterprise Solutions 2001 in Chicago. The award honored the Itronix GoBook‘, the world’s fastest rugged wireless notebook PC, and made 2001 the second consecutive year that Itronix has taken Field Enterprise Solutions’ top notebook PC prize.

The GoBook, powered by an Intel Pentium“ III 700Mhz processor, provides industry-leading speed and durability for demanding field computing applications. It is designed and tested to rigorous MIL-STD 810E environmental specs, which ensure the product will function in extreme heat and cold as well as survive repeated drops, shock, heavy vibration, and dust. GoBook also features an Itronix exclusive—the company’s CRMA‘ (Common Radio Module Architecture, or "Karma") field- upgradable radio modem architecture, which allows users to swap or upgrade wireless modem units in the field in order to eliminate costly depot returns.

In 2000, Itronix won the same award for its X-C 6250 Pro‘ ultra-rugged wireless notebook PC. Field Enterprise Solutions’ Best of Show Awards, sponsored this year by Field Force Automation magazine and Advanstar Communications’ CRM Group, recognize the best new products and technology innovations in field service, sales, and operations management. Judging criteria for Notebook/Subnotebook PCs include degree of innovation, end-user return on investment, and advanced customer service features.

"It’s always exciting to win a top industry honor like the FES Exhibition Best of Show award, but winning two years in a row makes the honor doubly special," said Jeff Gibbons, Vice President of Marketing for Itronix. "As anyone knows, staying on top is even more difficult that getting there. This honor says a lot about Itronix employees and their commitment to lead their industry with exceptional performance and customer value."

Award Continues GoBook’s Win Streak
In March 2001, the Itronix GoBook took the "Best New Technology" honor at the Federal Office Systems Expo in Washington, DC. The computer has also received favorable reviews from Government Computer News, C|Net, and Federal Computer Week magazines.

The GoBook, designed for heavy indoor/outdoor use, combines top-notch performance with rugged durability for dependable use by any field-deployed workforce. Its weather-sealed design provides maximum usability where protection from heavy rain and/or liquid spills is extremely important. The GoBook will survive 4" of water per hour, spraying on any of the unit’s six axes, and is tested to function after 26 repeated drops from three feet.

Offering a fully-rugged magnesium outer casing, the GoBook delivers the latest PC architecture including 256 MB SDRAM, shock-mounted 6/10/20 GB hard drives, lighted nitevue keyboard, and 12.1" SVGA color touchscreen display viewable in direct sunlight.

GoBook continues to be a major success for Itronix, winning large-scale contracts from numerous corporate and government customers. Its easy portability and wide variety of wireless radio options—Cingular, Motient, CDPD, GSM, and Wireless LAN—make the GoBook ideal for military, law enforcement, telecommunications, utilities, and commercial field services applications.
